About
Matt | Stephen | Kristian | Adam
Tantalus Quartet dazzles audiences with virtuoso precision and perfect ensemble, presenting imaginative and original programming for four guitars with warmth and humor. Since their formation in 2004, T.Q.’s goal has been to expand the boundaries of the traditional guitar repertoire with new music by award-winning composers and masterful arrangements by the group’s members.
Critics have praised the Quartet’s CD Debut. Andrew Hull of Rosewood Review raves “The range of dynamics on this disc is unmatched in the genre…think L.A. Guitar Quartet on steroids”. Produced by guitar luminary Bruce Holzman, Debut is often featured on NPR programs throughout the U.S. including Classical Guitar Alive, Guitar Journeys, and many others. Their highly anticipated follow-up CD is scheduled for release in 2012, and will feature music written for and dedicated to the Quartet.
Tantalus maintains an active performing schedule. They have appeared at important concert series and festivals throughout the United States, Europe, and Canada, including Weill Hall, the Guitar Foundation of America, the New York Guitar Seminar, Mostly Music (Chicago), Iserlohn International Guitar Symposium (Germany), Acadia International Guitar Festival (Canada), and many others.
T.Q.’s 2012-2013 Season includes performances throughout the U.S., Panama, Germany, and for the first time–Poland, featuring the group’s Polish debut at the Silesian Guitar Autumn Festival.
Tantalus Quartet is Kristian Anderson, Matthew Cochran, Adam Foster, and Stephen Mattingly. Tantalus performs on D’Addario Strings.
